Nelly Furtado used to fly about like a bird, all summery and carefree, happy and innocent, she'd put a smile on people's face and made the world seem A Better Place. Now that was all before her latest album "Loose". The new tracks on her album are full of ass shaking beats, hip-hop galore, buzzing in all the right places, full of hooks and dance-or-die bass lines, it was, and is a triumph; possibly the greatest pop record of the year so far in my opinion. Elsewhere there's Portuguese rapping (better than you think), and even a good ballad called, "Say It Right". This new album spells "reinvention" all over and Nelly cuts Loose bigtime. The album of this Portuguese-Canadian singer was produced and collaborated by none other than hip-hop superstar Timberland who has done wonders to other celeb singers such as Timberlake, Missy Elliott and Aaliyah.
So I give it a 4 /5 stars *****
I took out a star * from there because just like my best friend Diane, we both agree that Nelly Furtado can get a bit annoying by her high pitch school-girl voice when she talks. And she does just that in between songs. Très annoying Nelly!
