Tuesday

The Conservative Party introduce a no-confidence motion in Parliament, setting off a holiday Federal election campaign with a winter vote for January 23rd. Lucky us! In my opinion, I think the opposition parties have made a wrong turn to start up a winter election. They knew that they did not have the public support and most were in favour of a Spring election instead. I guess we'll see if this back fires on them. I'm not going to get into the nity grity of politics. I think it's enough that we'll have to endure campaign style commercials and debates through out the holidays. From the Bloc Québecois wanting their own "international" hockey team to the Conservatives wanting to re-hash the whole same-sex marriage law debate and now some Albertans wants to seperate from Canada... I think my vote is pretty clear to who it will be going to.

Persimmon fruit
Sunday I bought some fruits at Gerrard & Broadview China town.Origin: The oriental persimmon is native to China, where it has been cultivated for centuries and more than two thousand different cultivars exist. It spread to Korea and Japan many years ago where additional cultivars were developed. The plant was introduced to California in the mid 1800's.

Sunday

I went to church service this morning and I was late! Glad that Anthony and Colin were sitting at the back. Again, the Choir did an amazing job at making me all teary. I think it's the selection of songs and they have a great Choir Director. I noticed an Asian woman sitting alone and both times that she got up to go get blessed and for communion, she was crying on her way back to her seat. I just felt like going over and giving her a big hug. I'm such an emotional guy... haha So afterwards, we went for some dim sum and on my way home I did a bit of grocery at Gerrard and Broadview. Hey Al, I tried Jack Fruit this weekend! It was so yummy...

Friday
It was a white snowy morning in Toronto. Yesterday was awful outside... It was super windy and snowing for most of the day. I just wish I would have been able to go home after work but had to run some errands and deal with this bad weather we were having. Like we would say back home "Y Storm!" haha

I've been listening to some Emm Gryner lately. She's originally from Ontario, Canada - Filipino Canadian. Has her own record label, a few albums under her belt, was backup singer for David Bowie and was on the recording album of Rob Zombie (I know weird) haha Check out her website: www.emmgryner.com. My favourite album would have to be The Girl Version where she took all songs from male singers and re-arranged them her style. Truly amazing!

Monday

My mom left me a message this morning that my ant (dad's sister) passed away. She was only in her 50's and died of cancer. My parents stayed by her bedside with my uncle and cousins until she took her last breathe. The Gaudet Family Members are all in my thoughts and prays. She is now in a better place where there's no more suffering.

Friday
Today I was having mixed emotions about the snowflakes falling. I was happy to see it while singing in my head a childhood song:
"Il neige, il neige de gros flocons blancs - il neige, il neige pour tout les enfants."
But at the same time I was sad because now we have to live with it for the next 6 months. I don't know why us Canadians complain so much about winter. Shouldn't we all be used to it by now? I was hoping that this year we would get a milder winter. But according to the meteorologists, we'll be getting a cold and snowy one. *sigh* Gotta get my boots, winter jackets, big comfy sweaters and Buddy's little doggie-ski suit out of the closet.

Wednesday
Today, I finally decided to stay home and rest. I think this is just what I needed to help me recuperate. I slept for most of the day and also took Christina's advice and gargled with salt and warm water a couple of times. (gag!) But I think I'm actually going to beat this dam strep throat or whatever I have! Hurrah!! In national news: I really don't want to see politicians campaigning over the Christmas and New Year's holidays. I think Jack Layton has made a terrible decision to side with the oppositions to topple the Liberals out of power. I sincerely hope that if they bring down the government at this time of the year, they will pay dearly for their mistake like others have in the past. And that is my beef of the day.

Monday
Now who pissed on your laptop this morning? (lol) It certainly gives a whole new meaning to "who pissed in your cornflakes...?"
Isn't this doggie adorable?

As for the weekend, it was pretty relaxing. I cancelled most of my plans because I wasn't feeling well. That nasty sore throat of mine is still lingering around... I was able to sleep in except for Sunday; church service at 9am. Just call me Saint Christian, Ha~! After the service, we went over at Colin's place and had breakfast while watching Anthony recuperate from his hangover. (poor thing)

Jour du Souvenir /
Remembrance Day

In Flanders' Fields

In Flanders' Fields the Poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders' Fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe;
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high,
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though Poppies grow
In Flanders' Fields.

- John McCrae, 1915

Thursday
I finally went to the doctor about my sore throat. He didn't say I had strep throat but it sure feels like it. He prescribed me some antibiotics and told me to get some cépacol to numb the pain away. I'm sick of being sick man! I know that it's the fact that I'm so stressed. I need to take better care of myself and learn to deal better with stress. Perhaps take up some Yoga or Tai Chi or just lay down on my back like this doggie. heehee

When you ask "how big is your organization?", if you're stopped abruptly after uttering the second syllable of the fifth word... Finish the word fast.

A Sunday afternoon walk with Buddy to the park

Withrow Park
where I took Buddy for his walk
A kid making a mountain of leaves... Probably to jump it in later.
Just over a year ago fifteen dogs were poisoned in Withrow Park. One, a Cavalier King Charles spaniel named "t-bone," died. The city responded by enclosing the 21 acre park with a chain-link fence. No charges were ever laid in the incident.
In my opinion, these are sick bastards that probably, even if found guilty, would only have gotten a slap on their wrist.

France in State of Emergency
Violent riots have plagued France in recent days reflect the unjust discrimination in the French society. The riots began on Thursday 27 October 2005, and originally in the banlieues of Paris.

It seems that France’s integration model is not working- the country’s African and Arab communities suffer discrimination, poor schooling, unemployment and political unfairness.
