Tuesday
Yesterday I took the day off... The weekend was pretty good though. I stayed home for the most part because of the cold weather we're having. The highlights of this weekend were my two roommies that decided to cook dinner all weekend long. They even made breakfast on Sunday morning! It was great because we got to see Manny (Arran's bf) all weekend long, as he was working on a paper for school that is worth 40%.
So back to the food, Saturday we had pork shops (no offence Manny; lol) with salad and vegetables. For dessert we had caramel sticky buns. On Sunday we had fillet mignon with seafood (surf & turf) with salad and vegetables. For dessert, Alessandro made this amazing Tiramisu. I've never been a big fan of this dessert until now. But only if it's made by him of course. (hehe) And for Monday, we had stuffed red peppers with nachos that really blended well together. And for dessert (drum roll...) was this fudgy cookie with carmel and swirls of chocolate. It was by far... Better than SEX!! ;)

Monday Joke:

A drunk walks into a seedy biker bar, sits down and orders a drink.

After he downs it, he looks around the bar and spots three bikers sitting at a corner table. He gets up, staggers over to their table, leans over, looks the biggest, meanest, biker right in the face and says: "I went by your grandma's house today and I saw her in the hallway buck naked. Man, she is one fine looking woman!"

The biker looks right back at him and doesn't say a word. When he doesn't jump up and wipe the floor with the drunk, his buddies stare at him in amazement. The drunk leans in a little closer and says: "Then I got it on with your grandma and she is good, the best I ever had!"

At this, the biker's buddies are starting to get really pissed. One of them starts to stand up, but the biker puts his hand out to restrain him, still saying nothing.

The drunk leans in close enough that his breath was curling the biker's nose hairs, and says, "I'll tell you something else, sonny boy, your grandma liked it!" At this point the biker slowly stands up, takes the drunk by both shoulders, looks him square in the eyes and says...
"Grandpa, go home. You're drunk."

Got myself another iPod but this time it's a 30 GB in order to watch videos or tv series... I saw this woman on the subway train and she was watching Family Guy, which I thought was so cool. Anyway, I just had to have one of those. ;)

Whoa Nelly!

Nelly Furtado used to fly about like a bird, all summery and carefree, happy and innocent, she'd put a smile on people's face and made the world seem A Better Place. Now that was all before her latest album "Loose". The new tracks on her album are full of ass shaking beats, hip-hop galore, buzzing in all the right places, full of hooks and dance-or-die bass lines, it was, and is a triumph; possibly the greatest pop record of the year so far in my opinion. Elsewhere there's Portuguese rapping (better than you think), and even a good ballad called, "Say It Right". This new album spells "reinvention" all over and Nelly cuts Loose bigtime. The album of this Portuguese-Canadian singer was produced and collaborated by none other than hip-hop superstar Timberland who has done wonders to other celeb singers such as Timberlake, Missy Elliott and Aaliyah.

So I give it a 4 /5 stars *****

I took out a star * from there because just like my best friend Diane, we both agree that Nelly Furtado can get a bit annoying by her high pitch school-girl voice when she talks. And she does just that in between songs. Très annoying Nelly!

GTA Hit By First Winter Storm!
With December and the beginning of January having such mild temperatures it kind of came as a surprise when I woke up Monday morning with our first snow storm of the winter. It looked pretty messy out there with over night snow falls mixed with freezing rain. Heading to work was slower than usual. The sidewalks were very slippery. The only thing that was moving fast was the subway. It was just one of those days where you say to yourself, "why didn't I just stay in bed this morning?" I later heard in the news that Pearson International Airport had a lot of cancelled flights and the police were dealing with hundreds and hundreds of accident reports. One of them stood out being a tractor trailer that jackknifed on hwy 400 south of the 407. The highway was closed for 15 hours...Yikes!!!

And now, I just read on the weather network that the same system that left the west with temperature readings of -35c is heading this way. So we have extreme cold weather alert called for T.O. Burrr
It's gonna be a cold one people!

Happy New Year everyone! Ahhhhh Can you believe that we're already in the year 2007! Crazy eh?
I'm sorry for slacking off again and not updating my blog. Well, here's the official update Baby!

- December 17: I finally moved in with two of my friends, Arran & Alessandro. The move went well as I had plenty of help from my two new roommates and my friend Colin and his friend. Here are some pics below of the new place:

The living room / dining room

The kitchen with all its appliances, which we have more of in storage...WE ARE SO F*CKEN GAY! Christmas stocking: For Alessandro, Arran and they got me the one on the right of an old lady's shoe LOL Hmmm I wonder what they mean by that?!?! lol

Here's a brief update of my trip home during the holidays:

- December 22nd: I rented a car for Buddy and I to drive home to New Brunswick for the holidays. After driving for almost 10 hours, I decided that I had to find a motel to sleep for the night... So I found one on the border of Québec and New Brunswick and ended up paying like $70 for a shit hole. If only they would have had a phone or cable or even some heat! Burr, talk about major shrinkage! HA! But at least it was there when I needed it the most at around 3:30am, as I was slowly falling asleep at the wheel.

- December 23rd: I got to NB the next day and had to drive for about 5 hours to finally arrive at my parents at 4:30pm. At that point, I was a little bit sick of driving. Buddy was really sick but with lots of lovin' and some shark cartilage his back pain slowly went away.

- Christmas Eve: My parents and I had some "Tofukey" with some stuffing, carrots, peas, cranberries... I had stopped at a grocery store along the way to my parents to get some baked goodies and chocolates for the "soirée". As for my dad, he is doing very well. I was happy to see my parents and catch up on each others lives over dinner. Around midnight we sat down in the family room and oopened our presents before heading to bed.

- Christmas Day! We went to my grandmother's place for Christmas lunch where we ate some more "TOFUKEY"! Isn't that just hilarious? LOL They had tofukey because one of my uncles is vegetarian. For those of you that have no clue what it is, it's (fake) turkey made with tofu and vegetables. I actually love it. In the evening, I went to visit my friends and brought some presents for their little ones.

- On Boxing Day: SNOW STORM! When I got to NB there was no snow on the ground. But on December 26 we woke up to this... see pictures below. In the evening, my parents and I went to my ant's house, Carmel invited the entire family for a nice (REAL) TURKEY dinner. Haha Most of my cousins were there and it was nice to catch up and be with family. Oh and the desserts my ant made were all so yummy. Especially the Cherry Square...Mmmmm

My car rental...

- New baby in the family: I went to visit my cousin Izmaël, his wife Mélanie and their new addition; a beautiful little girl they named Nadège:

Me holding her; she was only 7 days old...so precious.

The rest of my vacation went really well. It was a bit short but I was really happy to see everyone again. I was glad I was able to see all of my friend's little ones and play with them. Here's some pictures of the kids:

Jay Jay a.k.a Baby Jesus sitting in the back seat of my car... We were all going to McDonald's for lunch and he got to go play there too!
Here is baby Rita at 11 months. Nathalie's little one. So adorable!
Shwwing! Haha The happiest baby I've ever seenBébé Chantelle learns to play the flute. Denise's girl (1 & a half yo)"Look mommy, I can play, I can really really PLAY!"

-New Year's Eve: I spent it with my best friend Denise, her husband, Troy and their little girl Chantelle. We had a couple of drinks but I had to leave not long after midnight because I needed to rest for the long drive home the next day. At least going home wasn't that bad as my cousin, Gémaël, and her friend were coming along for the ride up 'till Montréal.

-Bad luck as usual: We left from Cocagne to Toronto on time at around 1pm. The weather network announced severe freezing rain and ice pellets for northern New Brunswick and parts of Québec. So we did get caught in the bad weather which slowed us down a bit. Getting deeper in Québec the temperature warmed up so it was mostly rain at the end. We did a few stops, but the best was the town of Lévis. My plan was to go take some pictures of Québec City, which is directly on the other side of the river. And let me tell you, the scenery was so beautiful and I was able to catch a couple of awesome shots.

Ville de Québec (Quebec City); view of "Le Château Frontenac" castleMa cousine Gémaël and her friend Alexandre from France Buddy & I

- Arriving in Montréal: I was also impress with my ability to drive in Montréal. Of course it was 2:30am and absolutely no traffic at all so I suppose that helped. lol At the end, I dropped off my cousin and her friend and decided to head home for Toronto, despite the fact that I still had 5 hours to drive.

- At 5 in the morning:
I started feeling tired. So I stopped for a large coffee at McDonald's, turned on the cold air in my face and put one of my favourite 80's song, AFRICA, and sing my heart out. In all this madness, Buddy slept like a baby in the passenger's side. haha he's so cute.

- Hwy 401 Rush Hour: Once I past Oshawa I started noticing the traffic getting a bit heavier... When I got closer to Scarborough I basically slammed into the 7:30 morning rush hour which I've heard so many times from my friends on how crazy it gets. At this moment, my body was running on adrenaline as I was afraid that those crazy Ontario drivers would hit in my car rental at some point... But I managed to survive the ordeal and could do it again!

And that's about it for my trip! I had fun and now I can say that I drove from Toronto to Moncton without any problems, well except for some bad weather. But it was all good at the end. ;-)
